🏠 400 New Homes Coming to Morphettville
Construction has officially begun on “The Quarter,” a 350M residential project beside Morphettville Racecourse. It will deliver 400 homes including townhouses, low-rise apartments, and luxury builds, starting at 650,000AUD. The project is a partnership between Villawood Properties, Hostplus, and the SA Jockey Club. [INFO]
🛣️ Curtis Road Gets $250M Fix
A major upgrade is coming to Curtis Road in Adelaide’s north, with 250M allocated to remove the level crossing in Munno Para. The project aims to ease congestion and improve safety for 21,000 daily drivers. Works include new trunk water and sewer mains, and are set to begin before 2027. [INFO]
🚧 Safety Upgrades for Main South Road
Main South Road between Myponga and Yankalilla will be safer thanks to an 80M federal-state upgrade. The plan includes overtaking lanes, curve easings, and bridge widening to prevent risky driver behaviour. The project will also boost traffic flow for Fleurieu Peninsula residents and visitors. [INFO]
💧 Basin Plan Flows Strengthen River Murray
A new review shows environmental water delivery under the Basin Plan is boosting biodiversity, fish resilience, and wetland health. Freshwater flows have improved habitat quality for native species and buffered against drought. Delivery of 286GL out of the 450GL target has been key to these gains. [INFO]
🌾 Fodder Relief for Eyre Peninsula Farmers
80 tonnes of donated hay has been delivered to 11 drought-stricken farms near Petina. It’s part of the SA Government’s 73M Drought Support Package and a fodder transport scheme involving Rural Aid. So far, over 4,400 tonnes of hay has helped more than 450 producers across SA. [INFO]
🐢 5,000 Illegal Nets Removed from SA Rivers
A statewide campaign has now collected nearly 5,000 banned opera house nets from rivers and creeks. Fishers swapped the dangerous traps for wildlife-safe pyramid nets to protect rakali and turtles. The net swaps are part of a broader rewilding effort that includes reintroducing platypus to the River Torrens. [INFO]

🍕 Pizza Master Opens Sustainable Eatery
Enrico Sgarbossa has opened “That’s Enrico” in Lobethal — a 20-seat pizzeria focused on quality, community and zero waste. It features four signature sourdoughs, organic ingredients, and an ethos rooted in local connection. The restaurant also doubles as a training space for new pizza makers. [INFO]
🌸 Hope Blooms Café Opens in Charleston
A new café-florist hybrid has opened in Charleston, offering seasonal blooms and fresh pastries in a lovingly restored country cottage. Hope Blooms was created by a local family as a response to the 2019 bushfires, with a mission to bring joy and community connection. The space is already a hit with locals seeking calm and comfort. Maralinga Nuclear Tests:
From 1956 to 1963, the Maralinga site in South Australia’s outback, within the Woomera Prohibited Area, hosted seven major British nuclear tests as part of the Anglo-Australian Joint Project. The largest, the 1957 Taranaki test, yielded 27 kilotons, about 1.8 times the explosive yield of the 15-kiloton Hiroshima bomb, though conducted in a remote desert setting. Approximately 550 minor trials tested nuclear weapon components, contributing to advancements in warhead and missile technology. The tests left radioactive contamination, addressed by a $108 million cleanup from 1996 to 2000. Most of the land was returned to the Maralinga Tjarutja in 2014, with $13.5 million in compensation paid in 1994. The site is monitored today to ensure safety. Sources like the National Archives of Australia confirm Maralinga’s role in this significant chapter of history.
