🌿Seven Flowering Weeds to Watch Out for This Spring
Some of the colourful flowers popping up around South Australia this spring could actually be invasive weeds. Green Adelaide has highlighted seven common problem plants, including Cape tulip, three-cornered garlic, wild iris, watsonia, freesia, arum lily and bluebell creeper. These plants can spread quickly, crowd out native vegetation and, in some cases, poison grazing animals. Residents are encouraged to remove weeds carefully, including their bulbs or roots where necessary, and dispose of them properly to help prevent further spread. INFO

🚦Adelaide had the First Traffic Lights In Australia

🚦 Did you know Adelaide was the first city in Australia to get traffic lights?
Back in December 1927, Adelaide reportedly made Australian history when the country's first operating traffic lights were installed in the city. At a time when cars were becoming more common and busy intersections were getting harder to manage, Adelaide was ahead of the curve, introducing Swedish-made red-and-green stop-go signals to help direct traffic. Unlike the familiar traffic lights we know today, these early signals used just two colours: red to stop and green to go.
The story is especially interesting because Adelaide's early signals predated the familiar three-colour system. While traffic lights are something most of us barely notice today, their arrival marked a major change in how Australian cities managed their growing number of cars.
So next time you're waiting at a red light in Adelaide, remember Adelaide’s place in this story.

What colours did Adelaide’s first traffic lights use?
